A recreational property is a property for you to enjoy and destress from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A property that lets you relax, entertain or travel. Most people think that a recreational property is a summer cottage but they would be wrong. It truly depends on the person buying it. If you are considering buying a second property right now picture where you would enjoy relaxing? Is it one of the following properties or is it completely different? Let us know!

Condo

If your idea of relaxing is a low maintenance escape, then a condo might be perfect for you. You can find condos everywhere from the city to the lakefront. Condos are ideal for people who want to make sure their escape is always ready for them when they return. Condos require less attention, less planning and they are already perfect for life as you age. They are also great for renting especially if there are certain seasons or months you don’t use your place as much.

Chalet

Located all around Ontario ski chalets are the perfect retreat if you love everything winter. If your family is very active in the winter months, constantly engaging with seasonal sports a chalet might be the perfect weekend escape. Collingwood is a very popular destination for chalet purchasing because it is also near Lake Huron, allowing both use in the summer and the winter.

Cottage

The most common type of recreational property is a cottage. Located shoreside, these getaway homes can be found all over Ontario! Depending on how far you want to travel and how much you want to spend you can find a variety of cottages in different price ranges. Mostly for summer use only, you can find a winterized cottage, but you will need to pay a fair bit for all-season maintenance including snow removal.

Cabin

Usually found deep in the forest, cabins are perfect for people who really want to get away and disconnect from it all. Out of the recreational properties on this list, cabins require a more “roughing it” lifestyle. Usually, cabin owners are very outdoorsy and like being in nature. Perfect for those who like hunting, hiking, mountain biking or snowmobiling in the winter.
