Make the Most Of Your Agent's Expertise

Researching the market, looking into the neighbourhood, and trying to find the best (and closest!) place to have coffee meetings are just a few of the many things you need to focus on when selling your property or looking for a new one.  If you’re like most people, you can’t help but feel slightly overwhelmed, that little bit of anxiety building up in your chest as you wonder “is it really worth it?”  It’s absolutely worth it when you don’t have to tackle it all on your own especially when you make the most of that expert’s knowledge!

  1. Don’t Be Shy
Realtors are there to help!  Finding out the information you need starts with asking for it.  Are you wondering how to best address the curb appeal of your home to draw in more interested buyers?  Are you looking to buy a new home, but you are not sure whether a neighbourhood is a right fit for you?  Here’s the thing: when you work with an expert in the industry, they tend to tailor their services to a particular location and a particular type of sale, and when you ask questions about real estate in these areas, you get answers! In fact, experts love to talk about what they are passionate about, so make a list of questions and then, don’t be shy about asking.
 
  1. What’s Your Specialty?
Seeking out a professional realtor who focuses keenly on the type of real estate service you are seeking is imperative. If there is a specific part of town you would like to move to or if you are particularly interested in an investment opportunity, you should work with someone who knows the ins and outs. For example, if you’re looking for a long-term family home, you obviously wouldn’t work with someone who works primarily in commercial real estate…even if it is your Uncle Merv. Working with someone who lives and breathes in the area you are interested in will allow you more advantages than you can possibly imagine.
 
  1. Get Personal

When we say Get Personal, we mean you must share as much information as you can with your Realtor.  This means you have to get vulnerable.  Full transparency is the only way that you will get what you want, otherwise, you are relying on plain old LUCK.
