Make a Realtor Connection Even if You Are Not in The Market

It may sound strange but moving isn’t the only reason to make a connection with a local Realtor. Even if you are not in the market to buy or sell a house right now, you will be eventually. There are many important reasons to connect with and establish a relationship with a local real estate agent. Here are a few you might not have thought about before.

Contractors and Renovators 

A great local real estate agent that is actively selling homes will work with contractors and renovators on a regular basis.  They can be a great asset for you if you need work done on your home.  Part of the role of a Realtor is to help buyers and sellers with work that need prior to going on the market or closing the sale.  So, establishing a relationship with an agent will allow you access to trustworthy and reputable tradespeople.  Whether you want to install new countertops or put an addition on your home, having someone vouch for the people you hire is always a good thing.
 
Community Experts 

Real estate agents spend their days out in the communities they live in.  This gives them a thorough knowledge of businesses, schools and events in the area.  This can also be a great resource for you.  If you would like to know when new restaurants come into the neighbourhood or what the school ratings are, your local real estate professional will know.  Great agents tend to stay in contact with their database often, so you won’t even necessarily have to ask for the information, they might just send it to you regularly.  As small business owners themselves, agents also tend to build community relationships with other small business owners in your neighbourhood.  You can also benefit from all of their relationships if you connect with the right one.

Agents are constantly out there looking at homes.  They will communicate opportunities that aren’t on the market.  Even if you aren’t in the market right now, if that perfect home suddenly became available, you might be interested.  What if a great financial or investment opportunity became available? Wouldn't you want to know? This is a great reason to stay connected with a local real estate agent.  Think about it, they are working always working for you even without asking.
 
It is nice to have someone that is well connected with tradespeople, local businesses and unique real estate opportunities. Real estate agents are great people to stay connected with throughout the year, not just during a real estate transaction.
