One of the challenges when designing your home is staying current with the latest home design trends. Styles and designs can change drastically from one year to the next and it can be difficult to stay current. And, it looks like 2019 is no different. There are many unique and distinct design trends that are expected to become extremely popular throughout the year. Let’s take a look at several of them.
Wood, Wood, and More Wood
Wood is going to be one of the “it” materials of 2019. Experts predict that you will see wood finishes in rooms throughout the entire house from kitchens and bathrooms to living rooms and bedrooms. One of the benefits of this design is it works well with a variety of different interior design styles and decor pieces. There are also many finishes that allow you to stay trendy but still enjoy a customized look.
One home design trend that has already become quite popular is two-toned cabinets. This is where the top and bottom cabinets are two different colours. In 2019, you can continue to expect this trend but with more bold colour options. For example, the top cabinets may be a white or a light grey colour while the lower cabinets boast dark blues or shades of black or even red.
Open Shelves
Additionally, many kitchens are steering clear of full upper cabinets and are choosing open shelves instead. This helps create a more open, functional, and modern look that many homeowners are seeking in this space. You will however need to be more organized to keep these shelves looking great all the time.
Patterned Tiles
Patterned tiles are currently very popular for front entryways and bathrooms, but in the next year, you can expect this trend to expand. You will likely see a very vibrant, colourful, and patterned tile placed on bathroom or kitchen walls. You may also see different types of tiles on walls and floors in many of these spaces. Moreover, coloured grout is also an upcoming trend you can expect in 2019 as it accents the bright and bold tiles you may choose for various areas of your home.
Simple Landscaping
Simplistic Landscaping
The days of spending hours trying to maintain and beautify your home’s landscaping are passing by. Instead, 2019 is expected to be a year of simplicity when it comes to your home’s landscaping. Easy-to-care-for plants and flowers, simple pathways, and grass or rock areas will become more common. Rather than spend time cleaning up all those leaves or pruning dozens of shrubs and trees, you can spend more time sitting back and enjoying your outdoor living space.
