It’s time for a change! After another year of ups and downs, it’s time to start 2022 on a colourful note. It’s time to breathe new life into our homes, starting with the walls.

Three of the largest paint providers have shared their colour of the year. Each has a unique and clear story to tell and would probably look lovely in your home. Let’s dive into Benjamin Moore, Behr, and PPG’s top colour choices of 2022.

Benjamin Moore

Benjamin Moore’s 2022 colour of the year is October Mist, a sage paint that’s quiet and calming qualities that will start your year off right. This year there are 13 other hues to accompany October Mist. Benjamin Moore explains it as “harmonious yet diverse, reliable yet whimsical and meditative yet eclectic.”

Some other noteworthy mentions from this palette are Wild Flower and Smoky Green. Wild Flower is a unique shade of red that includes hints of pink and orange, while Smoky Green is a mix of blue, green and gray, resulting in a colour that exudes tranquillity.

This palette has numerous combination possibilities that will make every room feel cohesive and fresh.

Behr

Behr is excitingly looking forward to a year of exploration, both near and far. Their colour of the year, Breezeway, sets out to do just that. It intends to “evoke the feeling of coolness and peace while representing a desire to move forward and discover newfound passions.” The silvery green shade was inspired by sea glass and is one of 20 colours in BEHR’s Colour Trends 2022 Palette.

Some highlights from the collection include the warmer tones of Whisper White and the bold terracotta red colour of Perfect Penny. This palette will inspire you to enter the new year on a hopeful note and continue to create the ultimate at-home oasis.

PPG

In 2022 PPG is highlighting one colour to rule them all, Olive Sprig. They noticed a trend of homeowners and designers craving more authentic and nature-based colours while they live in a digital world. Olive Sprig is an elegant and versatile green-gray colour, that represents regrowth in a post-pandemic world.

This colour can adapt perfectly to any home that wants to add tranquillity to its rooms. It will help to create a sanctuary in a bedroom, encourage more focus in an office, or add a neutral backdrop to shared spaces like the kitchen or bathrooms.

Rebirth and regrowth seem to be the central themes of Benjamin Moore, BEHR and PPG’s nature-inspired colour palettes. These colours inspire us to dream big this year, and we are optimistic that 2022 will be a year of great change.
